GnarLube making lube sexy

Don’t ask me how, but I stumbled across this new cycle lube brand on Facebook – GnarLube. The profile image grabbed my attention as it would any other red-blooded male in the world. Now I have to be careful about this post not to make it to seedy as there seems to be a lot of discussion of late in the use of sex to sell products. The recent news – BBC and PC Pro – from CES and the use of babe booths has definitely thrown the cat amongst the pigeons.

Gnarly

Either way, this seems to be working for GnarLube and they are picking up quite a following, albeit on Facebook. Their website offers two types of lube as well as clothing, for both men and women.

This past week my dear brother sent me a link to site that contains ‘225 photos of sexy girls riding bicycles‘.  Although there a lot of images from new photography site TheFIXFIXFIX, there are also a host of old and new images of girls on bikes. Including celebrities such as Katy Perry, Heather Graham, Kate Moss, Cheryl Cole, Zooey Deschenal, Monica Bellucci, Kelly Brook and Heather Graham to name but a few. Even cycling’s very own Liz Hatch makes an appearance.

There aren’t too many images of girls on road bikes, but those that like cycle chic and fixed wheels will be pleasantly surprised by what you will see here. Here’s a sample of what you may see on the site:

Halfords Tour Series 2011 Champions Rapha Condor Sharp celebrating in Canary Wharf (photo credit: Tour Series/VeloUK)

Rapha Condor Sharp crowned Halfords Tour Series Champions

Jonny McEvoy and Motorpoint take final round honours at Canary Wharf

After their early round dominance wore off, Rapha Condor Sharp finally did enough to clinch their much sought after Halfords Tour Series title at Canary Wharf in the final round of the 2011 Series.

Having come third overall for each of the past two seasons of the unique team based Series, the men of John Herety’s team finally came good, to take a popular and hard fought victory.

Defending Halfords Tour Series Champions Motorpoint Pro Cycling went out with a bang, thanks to Jonny McEvoy soloing to victory in the world famous business and shopping district, leading his squad to the team win on the night, their first of 2011.

Behind Endura Racing came second on the night, to ensure the final deficit to Rapha Condor Sharp was just five points.

Team Lotto Honda

I seem to be getting a lot of hits on my first posting on the new women’s Honda Lotto cycling team. Liz Hatch and Veronica Andreasson seem to have created a profile for themselves in the world of women’s professional cycling.

As such, I did a Google search and found that P Magazine out of Belgium also did a photoshoot on the daythat video was done. The girls who take part are Liz Hatch, Veronica Andreasson, Rochelle Gilmore, and Kim Schoonbaert.

Unfortunately, the one thing the team has not done is created a website on who they are and what they do. Somehow think they are missing a trick with that, especially with a rider list such as this.

Here are the pictures from that day (and thanks to P-Magazine for them):

It’s good to see Honda backing cycling with the new Lotto Honda women’s cycling team. Is this a new global initiative from the company? The reason I ask is that in the UK, the company sponsors The Tour of Britain, The Tour Series, The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Rides and The Great Tour.  Whatever it is, more companies should follow in their footsteps.

Here’s more from the girls (Liz Hatch, Rochelle Gilmore, Kim Schoonbaert and Veronica Andreasson – the video can be watched by clicking here or by clicking here for the full article (which is in French)

[UPDATE] Following this video, the girls also did a photoshoot.  Thanks to the team at PezCyclingNews for this one:

For those of you who are still wondering about what to get for xmas, or if you are the girlfriend of a cyclist and not sure what to get him, then look no further. The 2011 Cyclepassion calendar is by far the best cycling calendar in the time it has been around. Very tasetfully done, while showing off the top road and mountain biking women racers in a way we’ve never seen them before.

Well, here are some video trailers for the calendar, tastefully put together by  Markus Neuert of Cyclefilm:

Lene Byberg

You’ve all heard about or seen the CyclePassion calendar series. Well, production of the 2011 version is well under way and here is a sneak peak of what we can expect in next year’s version.

But here’s an added bonus from the CyclePassion crew  – they have produced a documentary DVD about the elite women cyclists of Cyclepassion 2011.

The blurb they’ve put together for this as is follows:

How boring would life be without a bit of ‘over-the-top(less)ness’ from time to time See the revealing story behind the Calendar. The Cyclepassion crew has given us exclusive access to their photo shoots to produce a documentary DVD about the elite women cyclists of Cyclepassion 2011. The first shoot was with Willow Koerber and Heather Irmiger of the Subaru Gary Fisher/Trek MTB Team after the Offenburg UCI World Cup.

So here it is:

Make sure you get the 2011 calendar on your xmas wish list. It looks like it’s going to be a good one!

Babe on a bike

I came across this site today – COED Magazine – and thought, “Why not share it?!” As I’ve described on my About section, this blog has to do with all that is bicycles. And that is what I’ve done here. So for all the guys out there, enjoy! And for the ladies, well, just turn to all the cycling news sites around the world and enjoy!

Well, if you want to see more, make sure you head over to COED Magazine and see the masses of babes on bikes that Pez Cycling News’ Daily Distractions would be very proud of.

The Girls from the Toyota United Pro Cycling Team (Thanks to Pez Cycling and their Daily Distractions for this pic)

Over the course of December, as my workload quietened down at The Tour and I had some time to read through the various cycling news sites from around the world, I came across the Toyota United Pro Cycling Team and the team girls.  Just as with my post of the Rock Racing Girls, I thought it only fair that I post pictures of the Toyota Girls.

Who knows, now that Nissan is sponsoring Team Radioshack and Jaguar is sponsoring Team Sky, maybe in time we will see each team bring out their own ‘eye candy’ supporters at the major events of 2010?

(Again - Thanks to Pez Cycling News for this one)

Apparently this model's name is Elizabeth (from the Tour of Georgia 2006)

And apparently this model's name is Nicola (from the Tour of Georgia 2006)

Another one of Nicola

Nice!

Even famous American woman’s cyclist, Liz Hatch, has been seen wearing the Team United team kit. Apparently she was dating a guy from the team and decided to wear his top…

Have you come across any cycling teams that have their own female groupies? If so, please feel free to send me the links to them. I’ll be happy to post them up here.

Cycle Passion Sweat n Gears Nikki Harris

Nikki Harris

Last year I came across the Cycle Passion calendar and posted a blog on it as part of my xmas wish list. Now it seems this year that the calendar range has picked up in profile and in its fifth year of production is getting more media attention than before. I suppose a good thing, especially for the models who are helping to make the calendar what it is. And with all the publicity it is receiving, it makes me wonder if this calendar series is becoming the Pirelli calendar of the cycling world?

According to RoadCyclingUK:

Let’s not forget the origins of the calendar in the first place. Anke Wilken was the wife of a frenetic, obsessed cyclist who spent any and all of his free time on a bike. Anke felt she would sooner or later become a bike widow – fast losing ground to her husband’s love affair with the sport. The calendar was a response to this, initiating the first exclusive female cycle calendar and hoping to challenge her husband’s view and at the same time spicing up the cycling world with a female touch of beauty and passion. Sadly they’ve since split up. I wonder if the calendar was the cause…

Anyway, back to the current day and the latest 2010 calendar is another impressive collection of artfully and tastefully shot women cyclists not really wearing all that much clothing. There’s the odd bicycle or component in there as well but you won’t notice that for all the smouldering pouting and suggestive looks going on.

The 2010 calendar features Sabine Spitz (Germany), Lene Byberg (Norway), Julie Krasniak (France), Monia Baccaille (Italy), Anna Sanchis (Spain), Steffi Marth (Germany), Solveig Lindgren (Sweden) and our very own Nikki Harris (UK).

And here’s a taster of what you will get when you buy the calendar:
