So last week I put a post out about Martyn Ashton and his super amazing skills on the Pinarello Dogma 2. If you haven’t seen it then click here before reading on.

Well, since that video Martyn and his team have posted a second video of Road Bike Party – the Out-takes!

Brad leading the peloton at Legoland

The team at Lego have decided to honour Bradley Wiggins‘ win at this year’s Tour de France by creating a special cycling display. The company let Brad know what they were doing through Twitter. The display, which appears at Miniland in Windsor, sees Bradley in Legoman format leading the peloton in his maillot jaune. A handy reason to take the kids back to Legoland.

One year ago, on stage three of the Giro d’Italia, our team mate and friend Wouter Weylandt died after crashing on the descent from the Passo del Bocco. Today, the peloton in the Giro d’Italia will commemorate the anniversary of his death, by holding a minute of silence at the start of the stage in Horsens. They will also pay homage to Mayor Jan Trøjborg of Horsens, who died yesterday.

The crash of Wouter, who had won stage three of the Giro one year earlier, left the peloton in shock. Stage four, along the Tuscan coast to Livorno, was neutralized, with each team leading the pack for 10km and each rider in the knowledge that what happened to Wouter could have happened to any one of their number.

Wouter’s partner An-Sophie and his family received great support from the Giro organizers and the whole cycling family. The team established a fund to provide monetary assistance to the family.

Wouter, stai sempre con noi. We will never forget your radiant smile and your witty humor. You spoke with great pride about becoming a father and starting a family with An-Sophie. We will miss you. Remember you. Celebrate you. Forever hold you in our hearts.

The new customisable Lake CX401

My friend Martin, from Todays Cyclist, popped around the other day for a cup of coffee and a chat. He’s a great guy and it’s always good to see him. While here he showed me the new 2012 range of Lake Cycling shoes that he had in his bag of goods.

Lake CX401

The first pair he had to show me was the new customisable CX401. These are the top range of shoes available from Lake. As you can see from the picture above and below, these shoes just look awesome. But it doesn’t stop there. Its features include:

For sale: 2011 Basso Astra (Black/Blue)

After moving to the UK over a decade ago and getting back into the world of cycling I said to myself that I should get a Basso again. Why? Well, in my last three years of racing as a junior all I rode on was a Basso Astra with Columbus EL OS (oversize) tubing. I have many fond memories of racing and training on that bike. So I wanted to rekindle those memories with a new Basso.

So in October 2010, off I went to Todays Cyclist and bought myself a new (well, actually a demo) Basso Astra (as you see it above). However, in November that year after entering a competition on, I won for myself a brand new NeilPryde Diablo.

Over the coming months the poor Basso just stood in my study and gathered dust as I was now riding the NeilPryde.  This was the main reason that last month I made the decision to sell the Basso. It was a hard decision for me to make, but it is something I had to do.

Now you have the chance to own this beautiful Italian racing machine! The total distance ridden on the bike comes to 300km’s. It did 200km while used as a demo bike for the 2011 range, and then I added 100km when the Diablo was in for a service at the bike shop. So it is mint condition and has been looked after.
